To get better at playing your class you must do a few things. The first thing is to be better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log countless battles until you know every ability that your class has available.
When you feel experienced ehough with your class it is time to start learning! Boring but oh so necessary. Knowing your enemies abilities better than they do is key to winning. When faced with a Paladin that knows all of your spells it gets down to whom can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well be very familiar with your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Communicating with to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a quick method of knowing your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is communication and if you become good at that as a individual you will quickly advance in your guild.
