To get more skilled at playing your class you need to do several things. The primary thing is to be better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log countless quests until you know every ability that your class has available.
When you feel comfortable with your own class it is time to study! Boring but oh so usefull. Knowing your enemies spells better than they do is key to winning. When faced with a Paladin that knows all your techniques it comes down to whom can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well be very familiar with your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Listening to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a good technique of getting to know your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is controlled temper and if you become good at that as a individual you will rapidly advance in your guild ranks.
